MARIA LAURA RIBEIRO

(b.1975 São Paulo - Brazil)

Maria Laura Ribeiro is a Brazilian-born mixed media artist based in South Florida. As a daughter of an artist, she grew up with constant exposure to the creative process in her mother's art studio. It was this early exposure that awakened Maria Laura to the arts and helped her to master the techniques she now uses in her artwork.

Maria Laura uses a sophisticated mix of mediums to create fantastic images inspired by her lifelong passions; Pop Art and fashion. Her idea as an artist is to blend today’s fashion trends to images of the icons of the past, to captivate younger generation’s attention to the importance of these iconic figures to the history, with the intention of keeping them from being forgotten. In 2017 Maria Laura was included in the list of the 15 female artists to be watched in the Art Basel Miami Week of that year, by the blog The Mogul. The work that called the attention of the writer at the time is named “Golden Age” and today is owned by the fashion icon Iris Apfel. Her works of art are exhibited in art galleries and international Art Fairs, such as Art Palm Beach International and Art Wynwood.
